Professional and Personal
I've enjoyed working professionally as well as volunteering in Fourth and Fifth grade Language Arts classes, helping kids with writing and reading projects. I've assisted in Kindergarten through Second grade classrooms in a variety of subjects, too. It's been fun sharing some of my PUBLISHED AND PENDING work in large and small settings where the kids can ask questions and share their own ideas about writing.
I was asked by a Language Arts teacher to be a judge for the Annual Writing Contest in the local school district. I did this for eight years, and it was a pleasure awarding First, Second and Third places for the Fifth through Eighth grade Stories and Essays Competition. I will always be inspired by the students' talent, and the work they put into their entries.
My husband and I volunteer in spring and summer as Loon Watchers for the Department of Natural Resources, and send formal reports every fall documenting how many Common Loon adults, chicks and nests we've seen on several area lakes.
